Fakaalofa lahi atu ki a mutolu oti,
This is a short message to confirm a few headline messages following the announcements made by the Minister of Education today:
– From next Tuesday, all Year 11-13 students can return to learning on our school site – this is excellent news and we promise to provide a safe environment as possible for students and staff. Safety measures will include; a modified timetable with less movement and more time in less subjects per day, a reduced school day from 09:00 – 13:40, social distancing and compulsory masks for everybody on site
– Our Distance Learning Programme will continue for students in all year levels from Year 7-13 because we understand that some senior students have health issues that prevent them from returning during Alert Level 3
– We will be able to use derived grades from student work for the externals and students will also have the opportunity to beat their grade in the external exams, our senior on-site and distance learning programme will focus on students demonstrating evidence to generate their derived grades and also prepare for the externals
Details about school times, timetables, health and safety, uniform and other guidance around the importance of work completion will be sent out to senior students and families on Friday when they have been finalised.
I understand that at this time, you may have concerns and questions; please take time to read through the guidance sent out on Friday and contact the school using firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or feedback.
