Marcellin College

Message from the former Board Chair -

Mr Mati Filemoni Timoteo

Talofa lava Marcellin Whānau,

Thank you for your continued support of our school and especially your children. I have had the privilege of chairing your school board these past six years and have seen our school grow, regain its identity as a Marist school, increase its roll, and strengthen the leadership from the board through to our Principal and Senior Leadership team. We have lived and learned through pandemics and floods and the challenges that life has presented and we still have work to do. How do we keep our ākonga excited and thirsty for learning and knowledge? I believe It is not by standing still but by looking at the opportunities that are there.
Therefore, I give my full support to our new board chair, Ms Bernadette (Bernie) Tovio. Bernie is elected parent rep and a former Head Girl here at Marcellin. I look forward to work alongside Bernie as she leads the board and brings her experience and personal touch to the governance of our school. Carpe diem, seize the day and seize the moment to take our school forward to new heights and to "Seek the Best".

Alofa atu,
Mati Filemoni

Message from the Presiding Member (Board Chair) -

Ms Bernadette (Bernie) Tovio

Kia ora and Talofa lava.

As a Marcellin College old girl and a current Parent Representative on the Marcellin College Board, I have the absolute privilege of accepting the nomination to step into the Board Chair role for 2024. I want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the amazing work of Mr Filemoni Timoteo over the last 6 years serving as the Board Chair supporting the mahi of the school with such humility, passion and commitment. Filemoni has left big shoes to fill. However, we are blessed that he will remain on the Board as a Parent Representative, ensuring there is continuity with the skills, knowledge and experience that he brings to the table. Thank you Filemoni.

I am excited about the journey ahead and look forward to working closely with fellow board members and our wider school community in 2024. I am passionate about leading through service as we collectively look to "Seek the Best" ("Rapu I te Pai") to deliver high quality education opportunities in the Marist tradition building faithful, knowledgeable and compassionate leaders of the future.

Ngā mihi nui,
Bernadette (Bernie)
