Message from the Tumuaki/Principal -
Ms. Maria Prescott
Our ‘end of year’ celebrations of personal excellence have begun with the TechArt Show, Sports Prizegiving awards ceremony, and our annual Cultural Festival afternoon. Ngā mihi kia koutou to our organisers, participants and supporters for your loyalty and commitment.
We continue our celebrations this week with the Thanksgiving Mass on Rāapa / Wednesday 1 November at 11.30am followed by the full school Leavers assembly later in the afternoon, where our Year 13 champions will address our school for the final time. We acknowledge the whānau of our school leavers as their Year 13 tamariki / child leaves us, and invite you to join us as we pray together and give thanks during the end of year school Mass.
Our senior ākonga (Years 11 - 13) will then begin their study leave for the NCEA examinations beginning next week on Rāhina/Monday 7 November, all this information will be in a letter which can be picked up from the Student Services Centre if they have not received this from the kaiako kaitiaki.
The final Senior NCEA Summary reports were emailed out last Rāmere / Friday 27 October with the most up to date NCEA achievement progress data for your tamariki. There will also be a NZQA Examination assembly for all our senior ākonga after assembly today, and the guidelines and advice that will be shared will also been emailed to them. Whānau of our senior ākonga, please read this through with them as this will help them focus and manage exam pressure. They can use their experience and feedback from the practice exams earlier this term to refine their revision programme and study techniques.
If you did not receive the NCEA Summary report, contact Student Services at office@marcellin.school.nz to update your contact details.
Our junior school have completed their end of year ‘Check Assessment Week’ and have shown great aroaro / presence in the way they have remained focused and ready to learn. Please continue to encourage them to attend school everyday, with the correct gear and attitude to be ready to learn. All the very best to our Year 10 ākonga who will be trialing the NCEA Digital Literacy and Numeracy co-requisite assessments this week.
This week also marks the start of November, with the celebration of All Saints Day dedicated to all those who have entered heaven, followed by All Souls day of remembrance dedicated to those who have recently died, two significant days on our liturgical calendar.
Please continue to pray for our school, whānau members who have gone before us, our senior ākonga preparing for examinations, those who are moving on at the end of the year to start the next part of their life journey and especially those who are finding life stressful and challenging at this time.
St Marcellin Champagnat, pray for us.
Ngā mihi nui Marcellin whānau,
