Matheus Vermunt
Myself, my wife Maria and our four adult children have benefitted from the richness of the NZ Catholic Education. We believe NZ Catholic schools are a taonga gifted to us by earlier generations and that they offer our children a remarkable place to grow and be educated for their future life. The Marist spirit and way of life has been threaded into my life – as a student at St Patricks College Silverstream; then as a parent with children that attended both Marist and Sacred Heart Colleges.  My whakapapa connects me to NZ with tipuna from Rongomaiwahine in Mahia, Holland and a number of other different European countries.

My current ministries include roles in our parish and for the Auckland Diocese plus being a proprietor’s rep on the Marcellin College Board.   Past roles have included being a board member of Marist College and Good Shepherd School, with a time as Board Chair for Good Shepherd School.

Professional roles have been primarily in sales and marketing across a wide range of business segments. These roles are built on a tertiary degree in Technology with supporting commercial training.

I am ex St Paul’s, my wife Diane ex St Mary’s and our three daughters ex Baradene. All our experiences were positive and we strongly believe in the Catholic education system.

Diane and I returned to New Zealand in 2014 and I got back involved with St Paul’s College as a Foundation Trustee. This led me to my recent appointment to the Marcellin, Sacred Heart and St Paul’s Proprietor Boards. I am co-opted to the Marcellin Board of Trustees.

My career spans construction, consulting, event management and government. These experiences include leading Fletchers Construction’s NZ commercial operations, merging several of NZ’s largest business post acquisition and delivering the 34th America’s Cup event in San Francisco.

I hold an MBA (Melbourne) and BE-Civil (Auckland).
